John T. Grayson
- Professor Emeritus of Religion
Professor Grayson is a Ford Fellow and a Danforth Associate. As a Senior Fulbright Fellow to Germany and an American Cultural Specialist for the United States Information Service, Professor Grayson has lectured throughout Western Europe and Africa. He has taught at Haverford, Marlboro, Smith, and Hampshire Colleges. During the 1997-98 academic year, Professor Grayson served as ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳'s Interim Dean of Religious Life. He has been faculty lecturer for two ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ alum trips abroad. In 1990, Professor Grayson presented lectures "On The Passion Play: Christian Theology and German Culture in the 17th Century" as the alum traveled through Germany, Switzerland, and Austria on their way to Oberammergau. He also lectured on "Comparative Religious Myths" for the 'Tapestry of Ancient Cultures' Eastern Mediterranean and Red Sea Alumnae Association cruise in 1997.
Professor Grayson holds master degrees in New Testament Studies, Western Religious Thought, Systematic Theology, and Philosophy from Andrews University, Union Theological Seminary (NY), and Columbia University (NYC). His doctorate - from Columbia University - is in the Philosophy of Religion. Among other courses, he teaches Introduction to the Philosophy of Religion, On Human Freedom, Creation and Evolution, and The Spirituals and the Blues. His current scholarly project is an intellectual biography on the women who shaped the mind of Frederick Douglass.
