He is interested in what makes data visualizations like charts and graphs "good" for communication and how researchers should decide what makes a visualization "good." His teaching practice is rooted in the belief that Computer Science education can and should prepare students to contribute actively to a more just and equitable world, so he is invested in developing novel ways to integrate conversations about justice and equity into course content.
