Ruth Hornsby

Prior to working with ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ College, Ruth worked as an elementary school teacher and before that, she worked in international corporate communications for over ten years. She brings to the division her experience of working, living and being educated on three different continents (Europe, Asia and North America), as well as her expertise in special education and English language learners.

Ruth graduated from the University of Manchester in Theology and Religious Studies in 1997, and obtained her Master of Arts in Teaching from ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ College in 2015. Ruth is currently enrolled to study towards her doctoral coursework in education at UMass Amherst.

After state approval, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳’s graduate teaching licensure program will offer all classes online at times designed to maximize accessibility for all.

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ College’s Master of Arts in Teaching program has received a $125,000 state grant to develop a new program to support teachers on emergency licenses in the Holyoke Public Schools district as they pursue initial licensure and their master’s degrees.

The Professional and Graduate Education program now offers an online program for teachers working with culturally and linguistically diverse students.
